This short course is designed specifically to answer these questions and more. It will provide you with a clear understanding of what the law says as well as the legal ramifications if you get it wrong, in clear basic terms.
Therefore, the central focus is to provide you with an understanding of what reasonable force is and the related legislation. So, by the end of it you will:
- Know what common assault is
- Know what actual bodily harm is
- Know what wounding is
- Know what wounding with intent is
- Understand the circumstances under which you can use reasonable force
- Understand what qualifies as self defence
- Understand what qualifies as defence of another
- Understand what qualifies as defence of property
- Understand what qualifies as prevention of crime
- Understand what qualifies as lawful arrest
Throughout the course your learning and understanding will be reinforced through quizzes, real life scenarios and examples of the outcomes of cases that have been heard before a criminal court.
At the end of the course, and in order to receive your certificate of completion, you must sit the confirmatory test, consisting of 20 multiple choice questions and achieve a mark of 70% or above.
